Shipping Revisited – International Shipping, USPS vs UPS etc.

We wanted to revisit our shipping policy and give some insight as well as update some info. Here we go:
As you all know we have stopped using USPS in the USA last August, the reason was more than one really. It was a hard decision cutting USPS out of our shipping menu, however with growth we had to come to terms that orders with USPS were taking 3 times longer to process than UPS orders and with growing order numbers we are running behind due to trying to process and print USPS labels. Also, when orders go missing or are a, dealing with USPS leaves us exhausted and out of 3-4 hours valuable time before they can replace the cost.
Will we use USPS for your orders in the USA? Only if you are in Hawaii or Alaska for now. We are not too sure if we will be able to work with USPS unless the shipping software is more user friendly for the business owner with extremely little time and a very short staff.
We are aware that other small business may be able to offer this option successfully, however our business structure works very well with what UPS has to offer us. Different strokes, that is all.
As we promised, we are revisiting the International shipping since we have many requests. All international order will ship via USPS. We are able to offer all International services USPS allows us to process online and currently they are:
* Global Express Guaranteed®
* Express Mail International®
* Priority Mail® International
We can do flat rate Priority Mail only if your items will fit into the envelop or the box USPS provides us. Currently USPS does not allow First Class to be processed via www.usps.com, hence we are not able to offer it to you.
Should you need to check shipping fees to your country via USPS, please visit www.usps.com and calculate your postage. Often most boxes are around 1 lbs, if you are getting skincare, the weight does go up, so if in doubt e-mail is for a more accurate weight.
I really wish there was a happy medium, but one thing is clear to us — you want your orders faster and with a microscopic staff (and a 4 month old teethin' babe around) we need to automate as much as we can. Future may (and will) bring great things, we will evaluate everything and if we can offer you a better service or special, we will be sure to do just that!
